Healthy Sleep Habits for Kids

As parents, we always want to try to keep our kids healthy. One way to build up immunities is to be sure they get enough sleep. Although we cannot prevent all illness, a good night’s sleep can help them fight it off.

Sleep helps Build our Immune System

Whether we are fighting a cold or a disease, our body is working hard to get healthy. Studies show that the right amount of sleep helps strengthen our immune system. There are many factors involved in how well our immune system functions, but one way to help it do its job is to establish a good sleep schedule.

A child’s sleep is critical to growth, learning and their immune system, so let’s help our children get the sleep they need! Here are some ideas to help your children create good sleep habits:

  • Establish a routine early – Early in life, it is a good idea to establish a bedtime routine that kids can use to prepare for sleeping. Some ideas are taking a bath or reading a book right before it is time to go to bed. A good routine can set the stage for healthy sleeping throughout life.
  • Lead by example – Put sleep as a priority in the entire family’s life. Children follow our example, when they see you staying up later and not getting needed sleep, they will follow your lead. On the flip side, if they see you reading a book to quiet down for bedtime, it is natural for them to do the same.
  • Create a welcoming sleep environment – Try to make the bedroom a place to retire to for peace and sleep. Early in life, a blanket or stuffed animal in bed may help provide comfort. And as the child grows it may help to have a clean, comfortable bed with soft, inviting bedding. Keep items that represent awake time out of the bedroom such as electronics and toys, or even homework. It’s hard for anyone to relax with these things in view from the bed.

The PILLOW of HEALTH kids pillow is a great addition to your child’s bedroom! It is soft and cozy on one side and cool and moisture wicking on the other side. The pillows are made of high-quality, medical-grade filling and foam that are certified to be healthy.

September is Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month

PILLOW of HEALTH is on a mission and you can be a part of it. When you purchase a PILLOW of HEALTH Kids Pillow, we give a matching one to a child with cancer.

We are excited to announce our giving partner is Cal’s Angels so join our HUG ONE GIVE ONE mission of bringing healthy sleep to children.

We are thrilled to have Cal’s Angels as a giving partner.

Each year, parents of approximately 15,700 kids will hear the words “your child has cancer.”* The average age of a child diagnosed with cancer is six. Evidence shows that patients who receive support during these times show decreased depression, psychological effects, and lower stress levels. We all want to show we care and provide comfort, but don’t always know how.

Choosing to care is the first step and PILLOW of HEALTH wants to come together and take the next step with you. When you HUG ONE, we GIVE ONE.
